With the Maharashtra government still without cabinet ministers, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow, according to sources. Tonight, the two also met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. "The Maharashtra chief minister and deputy chief minister will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP chief JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tomorrow morning," sources said.

Earlier on Friday, Rahul Narwekar, the newly elected speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The tour is Shinde's first since taking over as Chief Minister. With reports that the Maharashtra cabinet will be expanded in two stages, the meeting is significant because the first cabinet announcements are expected before the presidential elections. On Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde formally took over the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Shinde won the floor test in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Monday, the final day of the House's two-day special session. The motion of confidence was supported by 164 MLAs in the 288-member House, while it was opposed by 99. Three legislators did not vote, including Congressmen Ashok Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar, who were absent during the trust vote. Shinde was sworn in as CM on June 30, just one day after Uddhav Thackeray resigned. Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP was sworn in as deputy chief minister. On the first day of the Maharashtra Assembly's special session on Sunday, Rahul Narvekar of the BJP was elected Speaker.
