Shiv Sena to use golden jubilee celebration to sound campaign bugle

The Shiv Sena will complete 50 years on June 19 and will be staging a grand function at the Goregaon NSE grounds here, showcasing its 50 years of political journey, ahead of next year’s BMC election. The Sena was founded by late Sena chief Bal Thackeray on 19 June,1966.
 
The event will coincide with the launch of a membership drive and is being seen as the party sounding its bugle for 2017 BMC Election. A film showing the party’s 50 year political journey will also be screened at the event.
 
The event will also showcase its drought-relief measures such as ShivjalaKranti Yojna in Marathwada and Balasaheb Thackeray Kanyadan yojna which helps farmers marry off their daughters.It will also distribute e-Rickshaws to women from the farmer families in drought-hit Marathwada region.
