While reacting to the allegations made by rebel MLA Gulabrao Patil, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut stated that the four people accused had brought the MVA government where rebel MLAs were ministers for the last two and a half years. During his address following a trust vote in the state assembly, Rebel MLA Gulabrao Patil remarked, "The current Shiv Sena division is the result of four people who surround Uddhav Thackeray. They never ran for office, but were elected with our votes. These folks have no ability, but they yell at us."

"I was mocked for being a tapriwala (little shopkeeper), and 40 MLAs left MVA because it was an old fire in our minds. We went to Shiv Sena leaders and asked them to at least listen to Eknath Shinde, but I was informed that if I wanted to, I could join him. MLAs cannot be treated in this manner. We also fought and won elections, with 4 lakh people voting for us" he said.

However, in a counter-statement, Sanjay Raut stated, "This is the same group of four persons you were with a few days ago. These four people are Shiv Sena veterans who are still in the party. Uddhav Thackeray is intelligent, and he is the late Balasaheb Thackeray's son, thus he makes his own decisions."

Furthermore, Sanjay Raut stated in response to Eknath Shinde's address, "MLAs who quit the party was required to deliver an emotional statement. So, there's no need to be concerned by Shinde's comments." Raut also referenced West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement that these renegade MLAs received more than money.
