Even though Raj Thackeray's protest at Thane Moose Road drew a large audience of MNS supporters and was fully crowded, commuters experienced numerous challenges owing to traffic bottlenecks that began early in the morning and lasted till the rally's conclusion. On Tuesday, traffic in numerous locations was thrown out of whack, causing major annoyance to commuters.
From 11 a.m.,
MNS employees began installing the rally platform on the busy Moose Chowk. Many directions were redirected by the traffic police, creating inconvenience to the people. The traffic police closed the route between Moose Chowk and Chintamani Chowk. Long lines of automobiles stretched from Courtnaka to the district government hospital, and it took half an hour to an hour to travel the five-minute trip.
The route leading to Moose Marg was closed, and traffic from Thane station and roads going to the market was redirected to Gokhale Road, Ram Maruti Road and Gadkari Rangayatan. From Jambhalinaka to the District Government Hospital, there was a traffic gridlock.
According to Rajit Patil, a Thane resident, "Not for political rallies, but for walking and transportation. Any political party should not hold meetings on the roadways. They should have worked with the Thane Municipal Corporation and the Thane Police Department to organize the event and set it up on some ground. From Thane station, it took me 20 minutes to get to Court Naka. Due to street protests, Thanekars are being held captive."
"Due to the rally on Moose road, many residents live in that neighbourhood encountered inconvenience due to police bandobast," said Ralph D'Mello, a Thane resident. Locals were not permitted to return to their homes. They were, however, liberated after campaigners intervened. The cops mismanaged a large number of people. As a result, I believe such rallies should not be allowed on the road in the first place, or that if they are, they should be carefully managed."
