A member of the Shinde faction was appointed head of the key Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communication and Information Technology by the BJP-led government at the Center on Thursday. Hindu Sena Shashi Tharoor, a Member of Parliament and the Head of the Congress, is replaced by MP Prataprao Jadhav.
"I will soon discuss with Department Secretaries the problems to be brought up at the next meeting, which is anticipated to take place on October 17 or 18," the MP, who until recently served as the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development's chair, said in a statement to the Free Press Journal. This committee is crucial. I'll put in a lot of effort to fulfill the role properly.
Mr. Jadhav has been a Shiv Sena member for more than 30 years. From 1995 through 2009, he served as a lawmaker.
He represented Buldhana in the Lok Sabha in 2009, 2014, and 2019. Despite a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from five members of the IT panel, including a BJP MP, pleading for Mr. Tharoor to remain chairman, Mr. Jadhav was appointed. Mr. Tharoor, who is now running for president of the All-India Congress Committee, frequently disagreed with Mr. Nishikant Dubey and Mr. Rajyavardhan Rathore, two BJP panelists.
The committee is now working on a thorough report on data privacy and security when Mr. Jadhav is appointed. On August 26, the panel heard Twitter India's opinions on the topic of citizen data security and privacy, as well as opinions from individuals,  stakeholders, and experts on problems connected to technology and digital platforms. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's representatives also provided the committee with a briefing on the matter.
