Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Chandan Sharma mooted a proposal demanding that a chowk be named after J Dey, who was shot dead by gangster Chhota Rajan’s henchmen. The S-Ward office had given its approval to it in its ward committee meeting last month.

The BMC’s Works Committee (Suburbs) on Thursday gave its nod for naming a chowk in Powai after late journalist J Dey. The proposal will be sent to the general body meeting for final approval.

The chowk is located near Hiranandani Gardens, Central Avenue Road in Powai. “Naming a chowk after him will be a great tribute to the departed journalist. It will also be an inspiration for the next generation,” said Krishna Parkar, chairman of the Works Committee.
