Playground or parking lot? Byculla MNS corporator initiates referendum

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plan to build an extension building to the Bhau Daji Lad museum in Byculla, but the plan has run into a controversy because the civic body decided to build a parking lot on the old playground.
MNS corporator from the Byculla area Samita Naik has asked for a referendum and kept a ballot box outside the Jijamata Udyan, appealing the people from the area and other mumbaikars to cast their vote on the issue.The MNS had protested against the plan in December.
Naik said the referendum would be on till 8 pm on Monday and the counted votes will be submitted to the civic body.
