Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax Department act quickly over persons who join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, once they join the BJP, they clean up their behaviour.

At a news conference in Mumbai, Pednekar remarked, "The ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department take action against people, and if they join the BJP, they get spotless." She remarked, "Will show you if you remove Police force for 24 hours," in response to BJP MLA Nitesh Rane's reported comments "If you remove ED-CBI for 24 hours, we can also show you. We do, however, function in a democratic manner and will continue to do so."

"We have not provoked anyone," she remarked in response to Union Minister Narayan Rane's claims. Union Minister Narayan Rane, who appeared before Mumbai Police on Sunday in connection with the death of Disha Salian, claimed that Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar provoked Salian's mother, who then launched a defamation suit.

On Saturday, Rane and his MLA son Nitesh Rane appeared before Mumbai Police in connection with the killing of Disha Salian. At the Malvani Police Station, the interrogation lasted almost nine hours. "Our claim that Disha Salian was killed rather than committed suicide was recorded at the time. After Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar provoked Disha Salian's mother, she filed a defamation complaint "After nine hours of interrogation, Rane told reporters as he was leaving Malvani Police Station.

Disha Salian, the erstwhile manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was allegedly defamed by the father-son duo. A complaint was filed against Narayan Rane and Nitesh Rane on February 27 for allegedly spreading false information about Salian's death.
Salian's mother filed the case under sections 500 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 67 of the Information Technology Act. Disha's mother said in the FIR that these politicians defamed her daughter by spreading remarks against late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Salian died on June 8, 2020, and star Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai home a few days later on June 14.
