Maharashtra BJP MLAs move SC against their suspension from the Assembly
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA leaders who earlier have been suspended for misconduct in the parliament, now have urged the Supreme Court to demand their suspension from the legislature for one year. The petitions were filed separately in groups of four by the MLA. In the petition, they stated that the resolution which was passed for suspension was passed in a hurry and was a violation of Article 14 of the constitution claiming that they were not given the chance to keep their opinion or not even a chance to furnish their written explanation.

“There has been the complete non-application of mind as there was no evidence available to identify the 12 MLAs from the crowd of people gathered in the parliament house,” stated the petition. The petitioners further stated that on July 5 the house was conducted by a nominated chairman and a business was being carried out in a one-sided way where no other party the opposition was refused to raise any questions.

“At this time when the resolution was being moved on by a minister of the empirical data related to the other backward  communities, then it was opposed by the opposition leader,” the petition further said. The 12 BJP MLAs were suspended for 1 year for allegedly irresponsible behaviour. Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers alleged that BJP MLAs went into the speaker’s cabin and manhandled officials inside however leader of the opposition and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis stated that nothing of the sort happened. According to the opposition speaker in the chair didn’t give them enough time to speak.
