After being sent a notice by the BMC who wanted to investigate the premises, Union Minister Narayan Rane stated that his Juhu property was not built illegally. "There are eight members of my family who reside here, and there is no business activity." But the Shiv Sena complains to the BMC, and the BMC is in Shiv Sena's grip," Rane said.

"I was in Delhi the other day when I learned that the BMC had issued me a notice regarding my home. According to 1991 Development Control Regulations, this house was completed on September 17th, 2009 by a well-known architect. There isn't a single inch of the building that has been used for anything illegal" he stated. According to sources, the BMC has informed Rane that on Friday, a team will visit his home on Juhu Tara Road to investigate the premises and verify charges of illegal constructions.
