On Tuesday, a state-appointed member of the high-level inquiry committee investigated the corruption allegations against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, headed by Justice (retd.) Kailash Chandiwal, summoned state cabinet minister and senior NCP leader Nawab Malik to appear before the committee by Thursday.

This comes after Malik's recent claims in the media, according to which he (Vaze) and the city's previous top cop Parambir Singh were behind the entire Antilia bomb scare episode. Vaze attached a news article quoting Malik naming the two cops in the bomb scare case to a purse, which is a written statement or information presented to the court about any matter standing before it. He also told the inquiry that the senior minister's "irresponsible" words were simply "spoiling his image."

"Following the hearing, Justice Chandiwal issued a notice-like letter to Malik. On or before February 17, he has been summoned to appear either personally or through his attorney "The commission's Registrar, Bhaiyasaheb Behere, verified this. In February of last year, Singh was in charge of the city police when an explosives-laden SUV was discovered parked near the south Mumbai home of tycoon Mukesh Ambani.

Vaze, who was in charge of the investigation, was later arrested in this case. Following the event, Singh was demoted from his position. The former senior cop was recently arrested on several crimes, including extortion, and was consequently suspended from duty.
