Following the failure of two cases involving illegal phone tapping, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole announced on Sunday that he will bring a defamation suit against IPS Officer Rashmi Shukla for illegally intercepting his phone. Patole made the statement after police in Pune and Colaba arrested Shukla, who is now the Assistant Director-General of Police in the Central Reserve Police Force in Hyderabad, for unlawfully tapping the phones of several politicians, including Patole, during the
BJP-led Maharashtra administration. Shukla was the State Intelligence's Additional Director General of Police at the time.
IPS Rashmi Shukla had illegally tapped Patole's phone, according to Patole, and a charge has been filed against her. "In connection with narcotics trafficking, Shukla tapped my phone under the name Amjad Khan." Devendra Fadnavis, the former Chief Minister, was also in charge of the Home Ministry. If Fadnavis is found to be involved in unlawful wiretapping, he will be prosecuted.
Shukla is currently suspected of illegally tapping my phone. I had brought the topic up in the state legislature. I'm going to launch a defamation lawsuit against Shukla and others for Rs 500 crore," he continued. The Dharavi reconstruction project, according to Patole, is riddled with corruption. He said that, despite the fact that the Fadnavis government paid the Railways Rs 800 crore for 45 acres of land needed for the Dharavi rehabilitation project, neither the land nor the money had been transferred.
This is a theft of public funds that should be examined by the Special Investigation Team, according to Patole, who also stated that he will petition Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to request the investigation as soon as possible. "I will urge the CM, if necessary, to recommend an investigation by the ED and CBI." "I'll bring it up during the state legislature's current budget session," he said.
Patole said that the
Congress-NCP government led by Vilasrao Deshmukh had devised a plan to transform Dharavi to provide better accommodation to the residents of Asia's largest slum. It was also intended to make Mumbai cleaner and more attractive." The program was announced by the Fadnavis government, and funds were sent to the Railways, however, the government has yet to receive land.
