MNS corporator wants nameplates outside housing societies to be written in Marathi

The Maharashtra Narnirman Sena (MNS) has demanded name plates of housing societies in the city should be compulsorily written in Marathi.
 
MNS corporator Deepak Pawar, issued in a notice of motion in the civic house has said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation should also fine the housing societies, which fail to put up nameplates in Marathi.The civic body has made it compulsory to have names of shops and establishments in the city n Marathi.
 
 

Pawar said, “Despite Marathi being the state language, it is not used adequately in government and semi-government offices as well as private offices. The government housing societies in posh localities also do not use Marathi nameplates and instead use English language.
