The Mumbai unit of Bhartiya Janata Party on Thursday officially launched its poll campaign for the upcoming BMC Polls 2017. This campaign seems to be along the lines of Shiv Sena’s 2012 campaign, ‘Karun Dakhavala’ (Yes, we did it).

The BJP plans to emphasise as to how it modernised Mumbai by improving roads, water supply, BEST buses, railway services and introducing new Metro railway lines. They will kick off their campaign with an event on Friday at Dadar. The BJP also plans to facilitate Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, in this event. The party will play a 11 minute audio-visual highlighting the measures it has taken to improve the quality of services in Mumbai’s suburban railways.

“During the United Progressive Alliance’s (UPA) reign, the government spent Rs6,000 crore in 10 years to upgrade Mumbai’s infrastructure. As against this, the BJP government spent Rs2,037 crore on Mumbai’s infrastructure in the past two years,” said Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar.

After Navratri, the BJP plans to distribute pamphlets and booklets about its work in the city, while maximising the use of social media to spread word of its campaign.
