On Monday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused the BJP-led Central government of being "anti-reservation" and selling public enterprises such as Railways and Air India to deprive intended beneficiaries of quotas. Baghel delivered the remarks at a meeting of the Other Backward Class (OBC) held in Shegaon, Maharashtra's Buldhana district.

According to a statement, Maharashtra minister Yashomati Thakur, state Congress president Nana Patole, AICC Secretary Ashish Dua and other Congress officials attended the meeting. "We're fighting to give OBCs reservations. However, the BJP's federal administration is anti-reservation "Baghel was quoted in the statement as stating.

He claimed that while quotas promote government workers, the Centre is "selling" the businesses it owns. "Railways, airports and Air India are among the government's assets for sale. How would reservation advantages be obtained if the public undertakings are not present? The BJP administration is selling these undertakings to deprive (the affected populations) of reservation benefits,” said the Congressman.

He said that a "great plot" was devised to restrict individuals from receiving reservation benefits. Baghel advocated for pushing for quotas as well as the "sale" of government-owned businesses. He stated that scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and OBCs have always been supported by Congress. Patole claimed that the Union government was neglecting OBC requests. A group of Central trade unions has called for a two-day nationwide strike to start on Monday to protest the government's policies, especially the purported privatization programme.
