Shiv Sena suffered another loss as Byculla MLA Yamini Jadhav shook hands with Eknath Shinde, who sparked a political crisis by rebelling against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's party. Yamini is a two-time corporator and the wife of BMC standing committee member Yashwant Jadhav. She has even chaired the BMC's child and women's welfare committee. Yamini, who is a fervent Shiv Sainik, ran in the 2019 elections against AIMIM's Waris Pathan.

Even though Byculla is a minority-dominated area, she was able to secure her victory. As a result, her departure from the Sena is interpreted as the party losing ground in the area. The Income-Tax Department had raided Yashwant Jadhav's home a few months before.

During the action, evidence of three dozen properties worth Rs 130 crore and evidence relating to the hawala network appeared. The I-T department also discovered proof of their suspected involvement in international hawala transactions and the transfer of ill-gotten money to select overseas countries during the raids last week. The I-T department further stated that they discovered proof of a close relationship between BMC contractors and Yashwant Jadhav.
