The camp led by Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday released an emotional letter addressed to late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, claiming that it was because of him that Mumbai was saved during communal riots that took place after the demolition of the Babri mosque. The letter came amid an ongoing verbal battle and the release of posters and teasers ahead of Dussehra rallies by the Thackeray faction and Shinde camp.
"However, Shiv Sena (which was in charge of the MVA administration) kept silent during protests in Amravati over the alleged occurrence in Tripura. You requested that Aurangabad be changed to Sambhajinagar. Your demand was not granted, despite the Maha Vikas Aghadi administration being led by the Shiv Sena. Even when the minister's relationship with drug lord Dawood Ibrahim was established, Shiv Sena remained mute "reads the letter, which was posted on Facebook by the Shinde campaign's spokesperson and former Thane mayor.
Uddhav Thackeray, president of the Shiv Sena and a former Chief Minister, was the letter's clear target. The Shinde camp criticised Uddhav for sharing power with party supremo late Bal Thackeray's adversaries, the NCP and Congress. It queries, "Which hunter put Shiv Sena's tiger to sleep?" "As we observed how terrible it must have been for you (Balasaheb Thackeray) to see the Shiv Sena's eroding foundation, the effects of the injection began to worsen day by day.
However, we were at ease because of the assurance made to you that Uddhav Saheb and Aaditya would be taken care of. However, the ideas you have consistently opposed have been regarded as the organization's guiding principles (indirectly alluding to Shiv Sena's agreement to include secularism in the Maha Vikas Aghadi's common minimum agenda). We repeatedly attempted to discuss it, but our voices were muffled "Reads the letter.
"The words of our activists, who fought to maintain Marathi and Hindu identity by putting up posters, organising camps, and even confronting police misconduct with sticks, lost their meaning. The influence of newcomers began to grow within the organisation, which caused the organisation to err. Even the well-known
Shiv Sena politicians from years past who fought alongside you were expelled from politics "It is read.
Additionally, the letter adds: "When you were there, Saheb, the word "Matoshree" (the name of Tatcheray's home) meant "love." The equation did it. A chair has never made you feel tempted. But only for the position of Chief Minister did Shiv Sena join forces with the same Congress-Nationalist after your passing."
