Highway projects being obstructed by Shiv Sena leaders: Nitin Gadkari to CM Uddhav Thackeray
A letter has been written by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra stating that the leaders of the Shiv Sena were creating hurdles in many of the road projects which are in progress in Maharashtra.

Further, the letter by Nitin Gadkari stated that the ministry will have to reconsider the plan of completing these projects if the contractors continue to face harassment by the Shiv Sena.  It was alleged by the Union Minister that the contractors and officials were being harassed by the Shiv Sena workers with illegal demands. The allegations further said that Shiv Sena workers also burnt the road construction machines at Selu Bazaar in the Washim-Yavatmal constituency.

“There are many projects that are taking place related to four-laning of national highways and bridges in Akola, Nanded, Washim and Osmanabad districts, but there has been a lot of hurdles by the public representatives from Shiv Sena as they harassed the contractors and officials with illegal demands,” stated Union Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari.

Further, he stated that “The work has been stopped off the 202-km National Highway which is between Akola and Nanded and also the construction of a 12-km bypass from Gedshi to Washim has been stopped by the local leaders of the Shiv Sena,” stated Gadkari. “All the work of Malegaon to Risod National Highway has been completed, just one work is left of a bridge over the Painganga river as local leaders threatened the contractor and stopped the work,” he added.
