Kishori Pednekar, a former Mayor of Mumbai and the leader of the Shiv Sena's (Thackeray faction), arrived at the Dadar Police Station in Mumbai after being called in connection with the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) corruption investigation. Nine persons claimed that they had lost money in the SRA housing scam and that they had not received any flats in return. After she failed to show up in front of the Dadar Police on October 29, Pednekar was issued a summons on October 31.

On October 28, the Mumbai Police announced that a close aide of former Mayor Kishori Pednekar had been detained by the Dadar Police. "A total of nine people had submitted a complaint claiming the money was stolen in the name of acquiring SRA flats, but they did not receive them," the Mumbai Police added. Police claim that Pednekar has not yet been mentioned in the FIR.

"The SRA has already stated that I play no part in this situation. The chairman and security of this society are available to the media, and if any store or home is alleged to be in my name, I would lock it "Kishori Pednekar, a former Mumbai Mayor, remarked. She also stated that she pays rent to reside in this society and was given a deadline of seven days for the investigation.

"Enquire within seven days. Rent keeps me here. Is it forbidden to live on rent? Why have I been invited to the Dadar Police Station for questioning on politics? You are in control of the federal government "She stated that she had faith in both the law and the constitution. Additionally, Pednekar requested in a letter to the SRA CEO that an investigation is carried out within seven days. She added that she dislikes having her name associated with the four people who were detained in the case and that she can show the police her bank statement if necessary.
