BJP: Flag hoisting ceremony skipped by senior BMC staff
As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022 approach, parties never miss on criticising each other. In a recent complaint made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to mayor Kishori Pednekar and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Chahal stating that the senior officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were not present at the flag hoisting ceremony at K-West ward on Sunday.

The complaint was made by BJP corporator Sudha Singh where she stated that the Assistant Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Bharat Marathe didn’t attend the flag hoisting ceremony. “I reached office at 7:55 and the ceremony was scheduled for 8 am, the security guards had already conducted the ceremony and AMC and DMK did not attend the ceremony,” stated Sudha Singh. Responding to it Assistant Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj Chavan stated that since 7:30 they were waiting for Sudha Singh till 8 am.

“We were waiting for BJP corporator Sudha Singh from 7:30 am till 8 am and as the rain was going on and the staff was getting wet in the rain so we had to conduct the flag hoisting ceremony at 8 am. The chairperson reached around 8:15 am. I was not able to attend the flag hoisting ceremony due to my health issues,” stated Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj Chavan.
