Sanjay Nirupam meets Rahul Gandhi for discussion on Maharashtra politics, ahead of the BMC Elections
A meeting was held between Former Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the capital where both the leader discussed the politics in the State of Maharashtra and the city of Mumbai as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 approach. “After a very long time a meeting was held with Congress Leader Rahul Ji and we discussed political issues of the state Maharashtra and the city Mumbai,” stated former Congress President Nirupam.

Earlier Sanjay Nirupam was the Mumbai Congress President till the Lok Sabha election but later quit after the election fiasco has become an aggrieved critic of the Congress-Shiv Sena alliance. When questioned about the discussion he had with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he stated that “I can’t disclose what discussions were done, but I can surely say that we have discussed on major political matters in the state of Maharashtra and the Mumbai city, can’t tell you more than that.”

This meeting of Former Congress President Sanjay Nirupan with Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi comes at a time when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 are approaching. The Shiv Sena has been ruling the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for a very long time. With this, the Congress party which is in an alliance with the Shiv Sena party is still unclear about contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections alone or in an alliance. In the past, the Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole had stated that their party would be contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 all alone which was backed by Nirupam.

However, the MRCC which is directed by Bhai Jagtap has yet not given any statement on the approaching Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the single largest party against the Shiv Sena. In the 227 member BMC, the Congress has 33 seats and the Shiv Sena has 65 while the BJP has 105.
