Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil summoned an all-party conference to resolve the issue on Monday, amid mounting tensions between the ruling and opposition over the ban on loudspeakers during Azaan. At Monday's meeting, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chairman Raj Thackeray, who has given the state government till May 3 to remove loudspeakers from mosques, as well as politicians from the ruling and opposition parties, are slated to attend.

The meeting comes after the Director General of Police and Mumbai Police Commissioner submitted a report on the use of loudspeakers in holy locations and the rules that will be announced for the entire state. Walse-Patil has previously stated that individuals who disrupt law and order would face severe consequences. He asked that no one take the law into their own hands, exacerbating tensions and dividing communities.

"If somebody does this, strict action will be taken, and peace will be restored," he threatened. According to Walse Patil, the Supreme Court issued a ruling on noise pollution in 2005, and the state government issued government resolutions (GR) on the subject in 2015 and 2017. The minister went on to say that he would appreciate it if people followed the Supreme Court's noise pollution decision on their own.
