Governor BS Koshyari, BJP national spokesman Mr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, and Women and Child Welfare Minister Mr. Mangal Prabhat Lodha have all drawn fire for their controversial remarks. On Thursday, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Mr. Nana Patole demanded that the ruling legislators and MPs resign if they have even the slightest respect for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj over the insult.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party just wants Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to win votes in elections. In addition, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's memorial celebration was organised in the Arabian Sea with much fanfare by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Votes were sought during the election with Chhatrapati's support, but as soon as the BJP took office, its true colours were revealed, according to Mr. Patole.

"Sudhanshu Trivedi, a smug spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party, claims that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj apologised to Aurangzeb five times. Even going so far as to imply that Maharaj is the symbol of earlier times, Governor Koshyari compared him to Gadkari. When the state minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha equated the Maharaj's flight from Agra to party rebels in the state, it was evident that this was the BJP's stance against the Maharaj. This exhibits a profound lack of guilt, said Patole.

He forewarned that such tendencies are not excused and that they will be held accountable. People are quite angry by the BJP's repeated insults at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and he declared that they would never put up with it. Mr. Patole urged that the state government step in to fund the annual scholarships granted to students from minority communities if the Center discontinued it. He said that members of the Congress party will visit the offices of crop insurance providers in Mumbai to inquire about why the farmers had not yet received compensation despite the payment of crop insurance money.
