As the BMC elections come closer, all the parties have begun their work in getting closer to all the sections of society to ensure votes.

Shivsena has played their new card to appeal the Gujrati votes in the upcoming BMC elections. Sub-Urban areas like Kandivali, Borivali and Malad have predominantly Gujrati population in the west while in the east Ghatkopar and Mulund have Gujrati population too.

Hence to appease the Gujrati votes, the Shivsena has decided to have a meeting with the community on January 10. Their counterpart, BJP has called this move a straightforward tactic to gather votes. BJP'S MLA Ram Kadam has criticised this and said that the Sena remembers other communities only when elections come close.

Shivsena's national organiser Hemal Shah came out to say that the BJP needs to move on from their loss in Maharashtra. People choose their leader on the basis of their work. Hence they should go and work for the betterment of people. He said, " People vote for a party that works for them. Instead of complaining about others, the BJP should start working on people’s issues. Only that work will ensure votes to its and not whining”.
