BJP Leader Devendra Fadnavis scoffed at Maharashtra Government on Assembly Speaker’s Election
In recent speculations that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra was preparing to change the rules by adopting the way by keeping an open vote for the State Assembly Speaker’s, election, the Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis raised the question that why is their fear in the state government despite they have the full majority in the House.

He further claimed that this step taken by the State Government shows that MVA allies not only trust one another but also their legislators. Again, the BJP leader in a statement said that the three-party MVA dispensation will soon fall because of its weight, and further he stated that once this takes place his party Bhartiya Janata Party will take over and provide an alternative government in the State of Maharashtra.

From the time Nana Patole resigned to take charge as the State Congress President the Assembly speaker’s post has been lying vacant. According to the rules, the speaker is elected unopposed. When Fadnavis was asked about the government’s this move he replied, “If your government has full majority why do you fear and just because of it why are you making changes in the rules? This clearly states that the MVA allies do not trust each other and also their legislators.”  "Any change in the legislative rules must be called by the speaker. The Deputy Speaker doesn't have the authority. Without the speaker such a meeting is not valid," he added.
