In a recent order by the sessions court, the anticipatory bail application of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been rejected for allegedly abusing and threatening an assistant engineer over water supply in a residential society.

An assistant engineer filed the complaint at Kurla Police Station, he is from the water supply department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), against Harish Bhandirge, who is a corporation. The complainant stated that on September 13, while working in his ward office and he also had directed his sub engineer to visit a site to resolve the problems caused by water supply in a residential society.

Further, he alleged that the Corporation, out of nowhere assumed that the problem that had to be resolved was not solved and so-called the assistant engineer via phone and during the conversation the language used by the Corporator was abusive and allegedly he threatened the assistant engineer while asking him of his location. In his complaint, the engineer stated that the whole day he was not able to complete his work as the threat made him shocked.

The court responding to this case stated that. “The complainant while performing his duty was threatened and assaulted by a corporator, who is considered as a responsible person. In case of such acts, this will paralyze the system as these trends are rising day by day which needs to be stopped.”
