BJP attacks BMC of scam ahead of BMC elections 2022

Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged a scam on the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) contract for scrap stating that there is some racket of 21 companies coming together with the same owner and the same address, taking most of the scrap deals contracts for the last five years. 

 

This issue was raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Bhalchandra Shirsat stating that the reason for the loss being suffered by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) every year is because of all this scrap dealing. 

 

“I urge the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief to ask the Civic Vigilance department to investigate into this matter as soon as possible and get all the details of the previous or recent auction of scraps,” stated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Bhalchandra Shirsat. 

 

He further took a jibe at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that in every new tender process no new bidders get a chance as the same dealers are appointed and work on the contracts year after year. As per the speculation being made by Shirsat, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is going to buy more new electric vehicles, scrapping the old vehicles, and just because of this the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will have to suffer from crores of loss and all of this will be because of this racket, he stated. 

 

He further slammed the officials stated that it is a very critical situation that needs to be probed urgently, and also the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials involved in this matter should be probed thoroughly as they are helping the racket to operate. 

 

Responding to the allegation, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official stated that the allegation which has been levelled by Shirsat is very serious we will have to look into this matter, as of now we cannot comment on this matter at all, as there are also Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 around the corner so it could also be an attack, counter-attack from the opposition so we will have to investigate on this matter.
