Anita Birje, the newly appointed Deputy Head of the Shiv-Sena, issued a warning to the leaders of the competing Eknath Shinde party on August 1 not to play on the emotions of Shiv Sainiks. On Sunday, Birje, a close friend of the late Anand Dighe who was in charge of the Sena's women's wing, was named the group's deputy leader, while Kedar Dighe was named the party's Thane District President.
Anita Birje said, "Earlier Shiv Sainiks were confused after the rebellion in the party, but after the announcements about the newly appointed leaders they have come out on the open and determined to work for citizens in the district and state. This was during a visit to the late Anand Dighe's Anand Ashram in Thane on Monday.
She went on to say, "Balasaheb Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena, set the course for us to follow. There will be 20% of politics and 80% of social work." Rajan Vichare, a Thane MP and Kedar Dighe were also present. "The leaders from the rebels group should not forget the positions they enjoyed in the party and should perform their work without pestering others," Shiv-Sena MP Rajan Vichare of Thane stated to reporters.
