Amit Satam, a BJP MLA, has accused the BMC of cheating in the contracting process for the construction of a tunnel laundry to wash hospital linen. He stated that a BMC employee received a bribe of Rs 16 crore in exchange for issuing the procurement. He also stated that he would present the evidence to the investigation agency at the appropriate time.

Satam has written to BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, demanding that the procurement be cancelled, claiming that if he studies the tenders, he will comprehend his charges. All of the criteria are constructed in such a way that a specific contractor will benefit."

The MLA further said that the tender should be released in accordance with the BMC and COVID-19 Vaccination Centres' criteria. He stated that the company's experience should be considered while granting contracts. Satam launched a scathing attack on BMC officials, claiming they proposed building the machine at the TB Hospital. "How can a TB hospital build a laundry tunnel when the clothing has to be dried in the open?" he said. He has instructed Chahal to take harsh action against authorities engaged in the case, or else the public will believe that the BMC is shielding corrupt employees.
