Ahead of BMC Elections, BJP gains from defections as Shiv Sena, MNS and Congress lose

The list of defection in this important phase of BMC Elections continues, with all of the beneficiaries being the BJP. Ex MNS MLA, Mangesh Sangle joined the BJP on Monday.

 

Shiv Sena corporator from Chandivli in Mumbai Leena Shukla also joined BJP in presence of city BJP president Ashish Shelar at the party office here.

 

Along with Mangesh Sangle and Leena Shukla, Sena leader Ramesh Naik and Congress sitting corporator Parminder Singh Bhomra also joined the BJP.

 

Former Congress legislator Krishna Hegde blamed Sanjay Nirupam for promoting corrupt persons and contractors in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election. Hegde joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday in presence of BJP’s city wing president Ashish Shelar. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, party vice president has appointed Bhoopinder Hudda, former chief minister of Haryana to resolve disputes in Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC).

 

Hegde is known as from Priya Dutt camp. Dutt too is sidelined by Nirupam, president of MRCC as like Gurudas Kamat, General Secretary of All India Congress Committee. While speaking with FPJ, Hegde said, “Most of the Congress cadre is disappointed with working style of Nirupam. He has decided to give candidature to some Mr Hirani and Jagdish Amin.” He added, these are contractors and few others who recently joined Congress party and involved in corruption related to Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (Mhada) will get candidature of the party.

 

He further added that he raised his voice against Nirupam’s working style in party meetings at several times. But he continues to ignore me and other leaders. “I have informed Priya Dutt two days back about insulting behaviour from Nirupam and told her about by decision of quitting the party,” said Hegde.

 

On Sunday night I met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and joined the BJP. When asked whether BJP has given any promise, he said, neither I had asked Congress for any post nor not I asked Fadnavis about it.

 

Meanwhile, Bhoopinder Hudda will meet Mumbai Congress leaders on Wednesday to dilute the situation against Nirupam.

 

Asked about reason for his leaving Congress, Hegde said the ‘autocratic behaviour’ of Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam was responsible for his decision.

 

 

“I tried to point out to party leadership about how Nirupam was damaging the party. However, no cognisance was taken of my plea,” Hegde, who represented Vile Parle Assembly constituency said.

 

“I am a second generation Congressman. Nirupam has ruined the party,” he said.

 

Congress won’t get more than 25 of the total 227 seats in the BMC polls, he claimed.
