BMC Elections 2022
Ganesh Utsav celebration in Maharashtra is observed with considerable fanfare. With the recently announced 300 free bus trips for Lord Ganesha devotees to Konkan, the BJP has promised to observe all Hindu holidays with the same fervour. The BJP has now made it clear that it will only pursue its Hindutva issue going forward. Senior BJP leaders said that Maharashtra's state administration adheres to the Hindutva philosophy while requesting anonymity. Hindu festivities will henceforth be protected and promoted by the government.

For devotees travelling to the Konkan region for the Ganesh celebration, the BJP recently offered 300 free buses as a gesture of respect for Hindu holidays. To begin the festivities, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha waved off the buses. To celebrate this well-known holiday, thousands of devotees travel to the Konkan region each year. According to sources cited, the top leadership of the BJP has directed its party members to encourage and observe all Hindu holidays with fervour following the shift of power in the state.

A senior BJP leader accused the previous administration of banning past Hindu holidays. Yadiwali, Dahi Handi, and Ganpati were not also observed. For a long time, even the temples were kept locked. The previous administration was anti-Hindu and didn't care about festival-related sentiments when people were calling for its reopening. Instead, he continued to operate the booze stores despite opposition from the public.

However, the Hindutva-led administration, which is currently in charge, will uphold all facets of the ideology. Sensing the mood of the populace and in advance of the BMC elections in 2022, the newly elected Shinde and Fadnavis government abolished all restrictions on festivals and permitted them to host public activities.
