Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray leader and former minister Mr. Aaditya Thackeray once again accused the Shinde Fadnavis government of losing not only the project but also the jobs for young people from Maharashtra in the wake of the $20 billion Vedanta Foxconn semiconductor project being lost to Gujarat. Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister, and Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister, both accused the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of losing the Vedanta Foxconn project, which Mr. Thackeray refuted. In an effort to pressure the Shinde Fadnavis administration, Mr. Thackeray made public a letter dated September 5 from the former Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation CEO P Anbalagan to Vedanta Limited Chairman Mr. Anil Agarwal, in which the latter invited Mr. Agarwal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MIDC and Vedanta Limited for the semiconductor project.

Vedanta Foxconn, which was supposed to be built in Maharashtra, has moved to a Gujarat region with less development. But CM Mr. Shinde and DCM Mr. Fadnavis insisted that the project would be built in the state. But the DCM was lying. We took 1.5 months to get a response from the government while they obtained one in a day under the Right to Information Act. According to Mr. Thackeray, I am disclosing the evidence that the project was supposed to be built in Maharashtra today.

"The MIDC CEO indicated the subsidies and other benefits to be granted to Vedanta Foxconn in the letter dated September 5th. According to the MIDC CEO, he has invited Vedanta, Foxconn, and AvanStrate to suggest a convenient day and time for an MoU signing ceremony in Mumbai, which will be followed by a brief joint press conference. Additionally, he had stated that the MoU will serve as a solid foundation for the Government of India to accept the project favourably, according to Mr. Thackeray. He denied claims made by Mr. Shinde and Mr. Fadnavis that the Gujarat Government and Vedanta Foxconn had previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding. He claimed that the letter from the MIDC CEO made it clear that the MoU needed to be signed.
