Malabar Hill police have arrested a BJP party worker for allegedly biting a female police constable during a demonstration on Monday. Akruti Prasad, a 41-year-old party worker, has been identified. According to the police, members of the Congress party planned to protest outside the home of opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis. To counter them, BJP workers attempted to approach the former Chief Minister's bunglow, but both were stopped by police before they could get there. The demonstration was later postponed due to the inconvenience it caused motorists.

Prasad allegedly bit police constable Anita Kulkarni, 55, on the wrist of her right hand at Shahanaz Chowk, Nepeansea Road, where barricades had been constructed to halt BJP members. Prasad was transported to Malabar Hill police station when Kulkarni raised an alert. Officials said she was charged under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to prevent a public servant from doing his duties) and 324 (Voluntarily inflicting harm with dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
