Mumbai Youth Congress Working President Suraj Singh Thakur resigns after the appointment of new Youth Congress President
Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the confusion of parties fighting alone or in an alliance still prevails with the preparation mode on. The Mumbai Congress which is in alliance with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government comprising of Shiv Sena and NCP, several times expressed its take on contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 alone. A recent appointment for the post of Mumbai Youth Congress President has made the Mumbai Youth Congress Working President Suraj Singh Thakur disappointed, due to which on Wednesday he tendered resignation from the Congress Party.

The resignation came after Zeeshan Siddiqui was sworn in for the post of Mumbai Youth Congress President and Suraj Singh Thakur as the Mumbai Youth Congress Working President. In the resignation letter, Suraj Singh Thakur stated, “The decision which has been taken recently has disappointed me and I’m not comfortable at all in working with such people who have no relation to politics and are not experienced in the key organisation of Congress."

Further, he conveyed his disappointment, stating that the hard work he has done for the part for past so many years has been side-lined. “I believe that people will understand that how it feels to a normal Karyakarta who feels neglected and the top shops are being considered, who have less experience than I have in the organisation,” stated Suraj Singh Thakur in his resignation letter.

Further stating that he worked with the party as the foot soldier. As he came from a middle-class family, he lived in slums from where he joined the Congress party during the days of his college as a member of NSUI in 2007. “My hard work for whole 14 years has been ignored. As it was a matter of my self-respect due to which I had to resign. I have resigned for the post of Youth Congress but I will still work as a Congress Worker,” stated Thakur.
