World’s longest highway between Delhi-Mumbai set to be completed by March 2023
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inspected the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is set to be extended between four states. The expressway will start from Delhi, will pass through Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and will end in Mumbai. The project, which is being built under Phase-1 of the Centre’s Bharatmala Pariyojana is likely to be concluded by March 2023.
 
On the 16th of September, Indian financial daily, Livemint uploaded a video on YouTube in which the Home Minister seems to be inspecting an empty stretch of the expressway in a Kia carnival. As seen in the video, after entering the expressway, the car’s speed rose to around 170 Kmph, and the movement was quite smooth. However, according to reports, the maximum speed on
the expressway has been set to 120 Kmph.
 
The Union Minister had earlier run an aerial survey of the expressway. According to the survey it was claimed that travel time between Delhi and Mumbai will come down to 12 hours and additionally will also help in saving petrol and diesel. Gadkari stated that “Soon the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is completed and ready for public use, at At least ?1,000-1,500 crores of toll revenues will be generated every month,”
 
The Union Minister added on Friday that the government is constructing the world’s longest highway Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway. The 1380 kilometers long expressway is reportedly being built at a cost of ?98,000 crores. The expressway has a tree cover of 2 million trees, facilitated with drip irrigation throughout the entire stretch with a rainwater harvesting system.
