Maharashtra Govt: Will not take coercive action against Union Minister Narayan Rane
Union Minister Narayan Rane has been asked by the Bombay High Court (HC) to file two different petitions to challenge the various First Information Reports which were registered against him in different cities in regards to the contentious statements given by him against the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray on August 23 during his Jan Ashirwad Yatra (JAY) which triggered a series of allegations and rift between the opposition and the ruling government.

Though the state government on Friday stated that it will take no action against the Union Minister Narayan Rane till 30th September, after which the court asked the minister to file different petitions instead of just one. The court stated, “As the FIRs are of different jurisdictions so it will be convenient for further charges as there will be instructions from each police station.”

This series of allegations came in after Union Minister in his Jan Ashirwad Yatra (JAY) stated that he would have slapped Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.” As the statement poured in, Shiv Sainiks were triggered and there was an immediate arrest of the Union Minister and later the Magistrate Court granted bail.

Soon after his arrest, Narayan Rane went on to the High Court and stated that Nashik Police Commissioner was under the pressure of the ruling party. Senior advocate Amit Desai later stated that no action would be taken against Union Minister Narayan Rane in the FIR. Though responding to Rane’s claim of multiple FIRs lodged against him just to harass him, to which Desai refused to make any statements as the reports didn’t have any details about it.
