A recent announcement made by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray ahead of the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, stating that the state government will provide full support to the project of high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Nagpur.
While supporting the project put forward, Chief Minister stated that the first bullet train is expected to be from Mumbai –Nagpur rather than the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray made this announcement while on the occasion of Marathwada Liberation Day in Aurangabad, announcing many projects for the region.
This day of Marathwada Mukti Sangram is celebrated because this marks the anniversary of the region’s attainment to the Indian Union after the Nizam of Hyderabad was defeated by the Indian troops. The Chief Minister also offered tribute to the people who died while helping the region get independence.
“It was expected that the state government will support this decision of the bullet train project,” stated Minister of state for railways and parliamentarian from Jalna in Marathwada region, Raosaheb Danve. While in the program the Chief Minister on speaking about laying the foundation stone for the administrative building for Aurangabad Zilla Parishad, Thackeray stated, “Everyone is expecting some or the other thing from each other.
I had given a word to Raosaheb in front of everyone, if he takes initiative for Mumbai-Nagpur bullet train, then the state government will always stand firmly with you in every step.” Further adding to it he said that starting a bullet train between Mumbai and Nagpur is what we wish, expect and dream of.
“Without bringing in any politics here, I just want to say that we expect to connect the corridors of Mumbai the state capital and Nagpur the winter capital, I am in support of this project, it’ll be alright if you don’t give any presentation,” stated Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
