According to Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Chairman and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, the 701-mm Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway will be open for traffic in the next two months. The MSRDC has begun preparing a thorough project study for the extension of the Samruddhi Expressway to Bhandara, Gondia, and the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli area.
The MSRDC has begun land acquisition for the proposed Jalna-Nanded expansion project. MSRDC's vice-chairman and MD Radheshyam Mopalwar stated that the corporation aims to finish all processes linked to the said land acquisition within seven months (June 2022).
The 179-kilometer route will require about 2,200 hectares of land in three districts, and the project's overall cost, including construction, is Rs 14,500 crores, according to an official. The Samruddhi MahaMarg Expressway will reduce the travel time between Nagpur and Mumbai from 16 hours to 8 hours.
Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra's Tourism and Environment Minister, revealed on Wednesday that the much-anticipated coastal road project, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and Worli Sewri link, will be completed by December 2023.
An official claimed that a total of 2,200 hectares of land will be required for the 179-kilometer stretch in three districts and that the project's overall cost, including construction, will be Rs 14,500 crore. The conference was attended by MSRDC joint MD Chandrakant Pulkundwar, District Collectors Vipin Itankar and Rajesh Katkar from Nanded and Parbhani, respectively.
In his opening remarks, Pulkundwar remarked, "The Samruddhi MahaMarg's Jalna-Nanded segment will cut the travel time between Nanded and Mumbai in half. The initiative will improve the region's infrastructure while also attracting non-agricultural jobs and industrial growth."
