Mumbai Door-To-Door Vaccination: BMC Collects Ward Wise Data of Bedridden Patients
Ward-wise information of the bedridden patients is being taken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the ones who want to get immunized with Covid-19 vaccines. A form has been provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the patients who are bedridden at every ward asking them to fill up the required information of each such patient. The form comprises questions like the name of the patient, age, sex, why they have been bedridden, duration, and are they willing to take the Covid 19 vaccine.

Many of the patients in the city aren’t able to get the vaccination because of their prevailing health conditions which restricts them to travel to vaccination centres. Numerous families belonging to poor economic backgrounds don’t have the money for an ambulance to take the patients to the vaccination centres for immunization. But keeping in mind their ongoing health conditions, they become more vulnerable to Covid-19.

“We have the data prepared with us, we are just waiting for the signal from the Central Government to go ahead with the door-to-door vaccination. In this regard we have requested all the ward's offices to organize the data and submit it to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for future references,” said Suresh Kakani, the Additional Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Kakani further added that according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s rules the patient with health issues who is completely bedridden and can’t travel to vaccination centres will be there on the list. But before that, all the required documents of the patients will be checked thoroughly to make sure the health status of the patient. The ones who have been bedridden for more than six months will also be added to the list but there will be a requirement of a doctor’s certificate declaring that the patient is physically unfit to travel.
