The Civil Body tweeted on Saturday that the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccination centers run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) would be closed on Sunday. BMC will share details of Monday’s vaccination center on their Twitter handle Sunday. Dear Mumbai Kars. There will be no vaccinations at any center tomorrow.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Details for Monday will be shared by this handle and related wards tomorrow,” the Civil Body tweeted. Although the vaccination drive across the state has been slow due to the vaccination shortage, the BMC centers are closing as it is Sunday. The state complained that the supply of vaccines from the center was inadequate.

Vaccination centers in some parts, including Pune, were closed on Saturday due to low doses. Pune Mayor Muralidhar Mohal posted on Twitter that all vaccination centers in the Pune Municipal Corporation area will not be vaccinated on May 22 due to a shortage of vaccine stock. To meet the high demand for vaccines, the World Health Organisation, the WHO, and the United States Food and Drug Administration presented a global tender for the importation of 50 million vaccine doses, but this did not receive a response until May 20, when the vaccine manufacturer or distributor had to be vaccinated.

The state government has decided to extend the deadline till May 25 as we have not received any response, Health Minister Rajesh Toppe said. In Maharashtra, 26,133 new Covid-19 cases were reported. The total number of infections in the state was 5,553,225. Within 24 hours, 682 people had died from the virus, bringing the total death toll to 87,300. The death toll in the state rose to 1.57 percent.
