On Thursday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the administration to work with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to guarantee the safe repatriation of Maharashtra students and others trapped in Ukraine. Thackeray also requested that the administration make communication with Maharashtra people living in Ukraine, particularly in the aftermath of Russia's invasion.
According to a statement from Thackeray's office, Thackeray voiced concern over the safety of persons from the state travelling Ukraine for business and education and asked the Chief Secretary to communicate with the Central government. He also requested that officials keep in touch with state residents who are stranded in the country.
'In light of the current situation in Ukraine, Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has asked the government to work quickly with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the safe return of our citizens, particularly Maharashtra students,' said the Chief Minister's Office.
"Considering the extremely sensitive situation in Ukraine, we request the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankarji to take quick action to bring back Indian students who are stranded there," said Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat. Our top goal should be to ensure their safety."
District collectors leapt into action hours after Thackeray's directions, urging Maharashtra students and citizens caught in Ukraine to contact district control rooms for aid. Furthermore, the district collectors have asked individuals to call the Ministry of External Affairs' support desk in New Delhi.
