Transgender to contest from Kurla

A 30-year-old transgender has filed a nomination from Kurla. Priya Patil, who works as a program manager and has done a diploma in social work, filed her nomination from Ward 166 of Bail Bazar in Kurla West. Patil wants to ensure that the problems faced by transgenders are brought into the mainstream, talked about and solutions are provided.

“Politically, no one is raising issues related to transgenders and sexual minorities. I want to take these up,“ said Patil, whose candidature is supported by NGO Kinnar Maa Ek Samajik Sanstha that works for sexual minorities.
