The Municipal Corporation plans to set up AC burn wards in all BMC hospitals
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to begin the service of committed AC burn wards in all its peripheral hospitals. The civic administration on Monday stated that that the work has commenced. The Brihanmumbai Municipal  Corporation (BMC) made this announcement before the Public Health Committee meeting which took place on Monday.
Rajul Patel, The Committee Chairperson last year had written a letter to the civic authority urging them to set up AC burn wards with skin grafting facility in all Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation hospitals.

“All over the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has three major hospitals and 17 peripheral hospitals. Though we still have a limited number of facilities for the treatment of burn patients. And if the burn injuries are serious the patient has to be rushed to the National Burn Centre which is located outside the city. I urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to start dedicated AC burn wards in all peripheral hospitals to which they have agreed,” stated Patel.

The Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation stated that the AC wards are the need of the hour. As of now the city of Mumbai has burn wards in major hospitals like Sion, KEM, and Kasturba and also in the private hospitals like Masina in Byculla. But the burn injury is more than 40 to 50 percent then the patient needs to be shifted to a dedicated burn hospital which is in Airoli.
