Mumbai faces Covid 19 vaccines shortage, long queues outside vaccination centres
Once again, the unavailability of vaccination has hit the city of Mumbai as long queues are noticed outside the vaccination centres in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) led centre in Dharavi on Sunday morning spotted an unusual rush as people queued up along the road adjacent to the centre. The city has been noticing the inadequacy of Covid 19 vaccines from the start of July.

The huge crowd was seen at the gates of the vaccination centre. The jammed lines at the vaccination centres have become an issue as no one is seen following the social distancing norms. It was urged to the people by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to follow all the necessary norms while standing in queues for vaccination.

This type of rush was seen earlier, on July 20, at the BKC Jumbo COVID vaccination centre, which is one of the biggest centres in Mumbai. As the scarcity of vaccination goes on in the city, the people waiting in line at the centre since morning were sent back without vaccination being done. The announcement made by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on July 19, informing the public about the shortage of vaccination doses during the week agitated the local crowd.

Due to the shortage of vaccination in the city from the beginning of this month, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) suspended the administering drive of the Covid 19 vaccine at the civic and government-run centres. Compared to the start of the vaccination drives, the availability of vaccine doses currently is low in the city. The state of Maharashtra has urged the Central Government for a larger vaccine allotment.
