All of the high-speed trains that were supposed to link to Mumbai are running late. Apart from the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train's land concerns, the railways have yet to finalise plans to connect the Mumbai-Nagpur and Mumbai-Hyderabad rail routes.
VK Tripathi, the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, revealed scant information about the progress of these high-speed rail projects on Sunday.

According to VK Tripathi, 99 percent of the land in Gujarat has been bought for the project, while 60 percent of the land in Maharashtra has been acquired. "The land purchase process in Maharashtra has accelerated. Yes, there have been challenges, but things have been moving faster in the last 2-3 months," he remarked.

Officials from the railway claim that they have completed 13 kilometres of track, while only expecting to complete 10 kilometres. The railways claim to be in contact with the Maharashtra government to resolve issues, including the acquisition of land in the Bandra Kurla Complex, where the Bullet Train would terminate. The BKC is the beginning point for this 508-kilometer rail line, including tunnels stretching for more than 21 kilometres till Shilphata.

The Mumbai-Nagpur and Mumbai-Hyderabad bullet rail networks are also moving slowly. The complete project study for the two high-speed rail routes is being prepared, according to top railway authorities, albeit it has not yet been sanctioned. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray remarked earlier this month that the Mumbai-Nagpur link would help the state.
