According to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Maharashtra government intends to build seven additional police stations in Mumbai in addition to a new prison. On Tuesday, Fadnavis met with representatives of the police department to discuss the need for new jails in the state capital of Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune. Fadnavis tweeted the meeting's conclusion. There is only one Arthur Road Jail operating at the moment in Mumbai.

The police brass was informed by Fadnavis, who is also in charge of the state home department, that "best quality work is anticipated in the allotted time." He promised that the government will provide enough money for housing for the police. According to Fadnavis, there was also talk about moving forward with the project to renovate police housing in Mumbai's Worli neighbourhood. According to him, ten more projects, including fifteen new police housing and station projects, will be completed in the next six months.

"53,860 police housing complexes, totaling 457, are currently under construction in Maharashtra. There will be 87 new police stations in Maharashtra and 7 in Mumbai", Tweeted Fadnavis. He gave the staff orders to prioritise the projects, start with the ones that were most urgently needed, accomplish them quickly, and then go on to the more gradual tasks. "Police housing should be constructed as close to the police station as is practical. When creating the plan, keep in mind how best to use the available space "explained the deputy CM.
