The Maharashtra government has made a variety of steps to help the tourism industry recover from the pandemic, including laws to boost agro-tourism, caravan tourism, beach shack tourism, and adventure tourism. The hospitality industry was also given industry recognition by the government.

According to the Economic Survey, an MoU worth Rs 200 crore was inked to build a ropeway at the Shri Ekvira Devi Temple in Karla and a funicular railway at the Rajgad fort in the Pune district. Another Memorandum of Understanding was signed to support the growth of agrotourism.

In November 2021, the government will sign MoUs with Bangladesh and Oman to increase medical and wellness tourism. The agro-tourism establishments. These businesses are eligible for loans as well as other tax breaks. In the state, there are 328 agro-tourism centres spread over 30 districts.

Along the Kokan coast, the Beach Shack Policy permits the construction of temporary eco-friendly and CRZ-compliant beach shacks, deck beds, umbrellas, and communal beach facility centres. Kelwe and Bordi in Palghar, Diveagar and Varsoli in Raigad, Aare Ware and Guhagar in Ratnagiri, and Kunkeshwar and Tarkarli in Sindhudurg were chosen for this project.

"In an effort to revitalize this industry, the state has granted it 'industry status.' The State has introduced a single-window clearance for licencing in order to enhance ease of doing business for the hotel sector in an endeavour to boost and restore tourism. Previously, around 70 permissions, approvals, and licences from 12 departments were required to start a new business in the hotel sector.

The government has chosen to minimize the number of permissions, approvals, and licences available in this sector to ten, which can be obtained from seven departments," it stated. Tourism, one of the state's fastest-growing sectors, generates significant foreign cash while also providing major job opportunities, according to the report.

The state is one of India's most popular tourist destinations, with beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, hill stations, natural caves, waterfalls, forts, colourful festivals, old pilgrimage shrines, museums, and historical monuments among the many attractions. According to the poll, the state has always drawn tourists from other states and nations.
