Soon after Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to make sure that all potholes are filled in a time frame of not more than 10 days, the Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal gave orders of filling the potholes to the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), stating that every pothole should be filled in the next two or three weeks.
A review meeting was held by Municipal Commissioner IS Chahal with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials and also asked them to personally visit the areas in their wards and should make sure that every pothole is filled on a priority basis.
The direction from Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came after she visited the Chembur and Kurla Eastern suburbs on Monday.
“Directions have been given to all the road engineers and assistant commissioner to visit their respective areas regularly and make sure that every pothole is filled on the same day. The road engineers have been asked to consider all complaints on a priority basis and close them up,” stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official.
Further, the statement from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that from April 2021, more than 40,000 potholes have been filled by the administration on all roads in the Mumbai Metropolis. But due to continuous rain and traffic in the city the problem once again has come up, so all the administrative department with the road department must come forward and jointly and fill the potholes in the city. All the pits should be filled on the same day and in case of any problem in the pit, should be resolved in 2 to 3 weeks on a priority basis.
This step of the civic officials also comes after the Maharashtra BJP MLA Ashish Shelar had slammed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headed by the Shiv Sena over the issue of pothole filling in the roads of the city alleging that a big scam was taking place in the amount that is being spent by the civic official on filling them. All this comes at a time when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 are on the verge, no party leaves any stone unturned to slam one another, making the elections worth noticing.
