The decision of resuming physical classes in Maharashtra was opposed by Taskforces
Recently the Government of Maharashtra decided against reopening the schools from August 17 which is now being re-assessed as the Covid 19 task force of experts and Paediatric task force strongly opposed this decision as to the speculation of third-wave hitting the children who have not been vaccinated comes. As the government is yet not sure about the decision taken by them which has led to confusion among both schools and parents.

Varsha Gaikwad the School Education Minister on Thursday stated that a meeting will be conducted with the task force where the discussion on SOP will be done. “After the SOPs have been decided a deliberate meeting will be conducted in detail with the task force,” stated Gaikwad.  The decision of school reopening came on August 10 by the School Department for classes 8 to 12 in the urban areas and classes 5 to 7 in rural areas of the state. For the city of Mumbai and Thane, the order has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to decide as per the ongoing situation of Covid 19.

The rules for the reopening of schools will be under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) where the school’s management will be following some rules related to the seating arrangements, how to maintain social distancing, and Covid 19 protocols. From March 2020, the physical classes were shut in the state of Maharashtra when the state was hit by Covid 19 pandemic. Permission for reopening physical classes in rural areas was made for classes of 8 to 12 from July 12.
