The Union Government was directed by the Bombay High Court on Friday to accept the plan which has been proposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to once again vaccinate the people who became the victim to many fake anti-coronavirus vaccination camps in different parts of the city a few months ago.
The Bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni has asked the Centre to accept the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) plan of action in seven days "with or without modifications, within seven days" from now. The Bombay High Court asked the Union Government after a senior counsel Anil Sakhre, who appeared for the BMC, gave the information to the HC that it had once again vaccinated 161 of the 2,053 people who had fallen victim to such fake camps. He earlier informed the High Court that there are victims who have been given saline water instead of the Anti-COVID-19 vaccine.
"At Hiranandani in Kandivali, out of 391 cases, 363 people were traced and 161 of them were vaccinated. We are finding the remaining 2,053 victims re-registered on the Cowin portal so that they can be re-vaccinated correctly," Sakhre informed the court.
He presented the plan made by the civic body which also included the re-registration of all such victims from the Cowin portal so that they can re-register on the portal afresh and get the correct vaccine administered.
Sakhre stated that they might not be able to do so without consent from the Centre. Looking at this matter the Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, appearing for the Union Government said currently the de-registration of the portal will not be possible but the centre will look into this issue. "Till the time, re-registration can be done by the victims on the portal for vaccination,” Singh stated.
The Bombay High Court replying to it stated that the Centre should not have any objection to look into the plan made by the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). 30 days have been given to the Mumbai police by the Court to complete the investigation into the incident of one such fake vaccination camp which took place in a housing society in the Kandivali area camp in the city of Mumbai.
